It’s not something I can fix

It is out of my control

It’s not an easy problem

Or the kind that I can solve.

 

I never saw it coming

I can’t make it go away

I just have to keep on going

Making the most of every day.

 

I will go on with life

As I did before

But with my eyes open wider

To some things I never saw.

 

Little things that worried me

Don’t bother me like before

But all the important things in life

I appreciate so much more.

 

The challenges will make me strong

Even the days I just get through

And I will find out every day

I am stronger than I knew.

 

I will need to count my blessings

More than I have done in the past…

As I have a constant reminder

Of how things in life change fast.

 

When things seem darkest

It’s important to look and see

At all that I have on my side

And the people here for me.

 

I may have tougher days

Than I did as the old me

But I am stronger, wiser and kinder

Than the person I used to be.

 

I am a new person now

I may never be the same

The road ahead may not be easy

But I will remember what I have gained!
