Snapshot of Mexico

I always pictured Mexico to be full of Sombreros, Ponchos and men with moustaches. I never really thought of it being in the Caribbean. That is, until I went there myself. The white-sanded beaches of Tulum are situated on the East coast of the Yucatán Peninsula and enjoy the clear blues waters of the Caribbean Sea.
The actual town of Tulum holds no attraction so my traveling companions and I stayed in a little Cabaña amongst the Palm trees and lazy lizards. It was an eco-friendly Cabaña, which meant the toilets were further down the sandy path, encased in jungle-like flora and all electricity went out at 11pm. Inside our timber hut, two beds lay quietly underneath mosquito nets and the only sounds to be heard outside, were the soft crashing of the waves.
We found a small bar by the beach, with swings instead of seats. Our feet dangled mid-air as we sipped on $3 cocktails. Margaritas, Piña Coladas, Daiquiris, you name it. All blended with the finest fruits and the strongest of Mexico’s alcohol.
Merrily, we stumbled to the water’s edge. We made sand Angels while staring into the darkening sky of stars. It’s amazing what paradise you can find in the most unexpected places…

What an AWESOME shot!
